We live in a universe brimming with potentials waiting to be realized.
Every promise, every longing in God’s heart on our behalf is a potential awaiting its realization in us.
But what God means-to-be does not necessarily come-to-be.
Jesus lamented, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. (Matt 23:37-38, NASU)
What had the pre-incarnate One longed to accomplish over the centuries? Was He able to gather Jerusalem’s children into His protection? Did it come-to-be?
For most of them — no — because they were unwilling.
But in the lives of a willing few — what He wanted to do and be for them came true.
The question is, “in whose?”
